We Shall Let The American Understand Us By: Gharib M .Elmanssy No matter how much books they read about Egypt and how much time they visit the land of pharaohs , it seems to me the American never understand the complexity of Egypt and the Egyptians. Until the turn of the twenty century most Egyptians were slave to few massive landlord and that make the Egyptians by nature passive people, they fellow order from their master and they do exactly what they been told to do, fearing to think out of the box. Giving the fact that the old Egyptians were worshiping their pharaohs out of respect and fear, the new Egyptians in this modern days are no different than the old ones. When Nasser come to power in early fifty he has slogan : "stand up brother we are now free!!! " And soon he discover that the Egyptians needs father figure not just leader, and he played that role very will and that explain why the Egyptians still admire Nasser till this days. This historical back ground is very important for anyones who wont to wright about Egypt. Sadat and Mubarak played this rule as will too. But time has change, and the change was fast and beyond the Egyptians ability to comprehend , We live in the informations age , and the Egyptians seem to grab the idea of global being , but they never really had chance to change their inherited cultre. Democracy, Human right, women rights is will knowing to the Egyptians through the history ,but not exactly the american way, and if we have to do it the western way we must change our culture and that not possible in this time of history!! , its like demanding the Americans to become Egyptians. Having said that , we must acknowledge most Egyptians are God fearing people and they practice the religion in meaningful way not the Extremest way , and that also explains why the national conscious was against the Brotherhood ruling formula. Egypt and the Egyptians as I said before needs father figure to rule them and denying this fact from the western absorver does not change it. The western media can demand the ruling father figure to be more balanced and fair to his people not denying the Egyptians the current one who replaced The former elected MORSY Because he failed to understand the basic of the Egyptians wisdom.
